Save images of Australia as your lock screen. Buy Australian wines and find a great pair of water shoes so you’ve got a start on the gear you’ll need to enjoy your adventure.
Decide What Goals Will Stretch You Towards Your Dreams
If you truly want a nomadic life and Australia is just one stop, make a list of what you need to get on the road, train or plane. You do need a great suitcase that will be easy to roll over concrete, cobbles and gravel. You may or may not need a brand new car.

Fitness, frugal living and cash are all important if you want to take walking tours in far-flung corners of the world. Hang out with other folks using frugality to fund their dreams. Change your personal passwords to reflect your travel dream, perhaps to other spots in this remarkable planet. Find out what a round trip flight will cost and post it on your bulletin board or refrigerator.
Put language apps on your phone and increase your skills. If you speak English, consider adding Spanish to your skillset for more travel flexibility. At the very least, learn the common greetings for travel to your dream destinations. Hello, thank you and where is the bathroom, please? can all make you a more welcome traveler.
Create a mantra for yourself. If your dream life is parking your RV on a beach and toasting the sunset, ask yourself “Is this RV-friendly?” each time you make a purchase, sign a contract or take a job. These small actions will lift you toward your dream!

Don’t forget the library! If your dream is to be a stay at home parent or a homesteader, your local library is loaded with resources that can help you build your dream life right where you are. Visit community gardens and look for a mentor; you may find an older gardener with a lot of knowledge who needs some help on a heavy project. Pick their brains!
Finally, avoid relying on folks who shut your dream down. Your family may be afraid for your safety and well-being, but fear is a terrible soil in which to grow your dreams. People who have achieved goals similar to your dreams will never offer negativity about your dreams. Ask them for advice, be open about what you’re already doing and find ways to put their recommendations to work.
